North Georgia Harley Owner's Group Sponsored by Frazier's Harley-Davidson
WELCOME
Now that you have paid your membership dues, turned in your application/release form and been issued a membership card; we would like to welcome you as a member of North Georgia Harley Owners Group, sponsored by Frazier's Harley-Davidson. Our monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:15 PM and usually last one hour. There is a sign-in sheet at each meeting and ask that you sign-in. When you sign-in you will be given a ticket for the attendance jackpot. Each month one lucky member wins a gift from Frazier's HD. We also have a 50/50 drawing. Before the meeting you can purchase tickets. Tickets are $1.00 each, six for $5.00 or 12 for $10.00. You must be a North GA HOG chapter member with a current chapter card to purchase tickets. At the end of the meeting one ticket is drawn and the winner receives one half of the total collected with the other half going to our chapter.
You have joined a chapter that has a very active riding schedule. The rides average of 25-30 people on each ride. Usually every ride leads to a restaurant and, jokingly, we have said our motto is “LIVE TO RIDE, RIDE TO EAT”. Please bring your membership card to each ride. If you do not have your card, you will be required to sign a release form. You may bring guests to participate in these rides. They will be required to complete a release form. Planning meeting are held 3 times per year to schedule rides, this year the Chapter starting doing these immediately after a regular HOG meeting. Each member is encouraged to attend the planning meetings and participate. Usually if you schedule a ride, you will lead that ride. This has become such an event that we now have members who lead annual rides to favorite destinations, i.e., Cecil's favorite fall leaf ride to TN. And favorite food rides to Yesterday Café, Calico Café and all the favorite BBQ joints just to mention a few. However, if you don't feel comfortable leading a ride, you can still make a suggestion and someone else can lead.
The North Georgia Chapter supports the MDA Association as our charity. Frazier's Harley-Davidson has an open house each June. Members generously volunteer their time to run the open house outside activities. Frazier's donates the food (BBQ and all the fixins) and we take donations (to benefit MDA) for the food. We also have a bike wash and bike show. In 2005 we raised over $10,000. Frazier's also gives away great door prizes, you have to be present to win, so that's reason enough to volunteer.
In December of each year, we also sponsor an annual toy run to Gainesville for the Chattahoochee Secret Santa. This is in affiliation with Chattahoochee Baptist Church in Gainesville, who qualifies each family and their needs. This year the Chapter had a Christmas in July ride and raised $500.
At Christmas time the chapter donates money and the members bring toys on the day of the run. Frazier's serves coffee and donuts before we leave. In past years we have had as many as 300 bikes participating. If the weather is really cold, members are encouraged to participate in their cars. They count on us each year to help out. This is one event you won't want to miss.
North Georgia Harley Owners Group sponsors the keep Georgia Beautiful Campaign. We have a trash pickup four times per year that consists of both sides of the highway from the shop down to Hwy. 23. These pickups are held on Saturday mornings. Depending on the number of members that show up, it usually takes thirty minutes to one hour. Trash pickups count TWO points in our point system. Usually right after the Trash Pick UP we have a Riders Edge Course. The Safety Officer conducts this meeting, this class consists of a Safety movie and handbooks, this counts at TWO points in our point system too.
Here is how the Point System works. Each scheduled ride or activity you participate in, you earn a point. As stated, trash pickups are two pointers. The points are tallied and at our annual Christmas Party, the top five participants are awarded a plaque. You can also receive two points for attending the following State Rallies and Bike Weeks: Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Sturgis, Daytona Spring and Fall, Panama Spring and Fall and Myrtle Beach. Usually, there is a sign-in sheet at the monthly meeting for these activities. If you attend any of these rallies, it is your responsibility to notify the Activities Director of your participation. Unscheduled or impromptu rides do not receive a point.
Several times a year we have “EAT and MEET” meetings. Bring a covered dish and after a short meeting, we partake of some delicious food and fellowship. The chapter provides the drinks. After most other meetings members go to a nearby restaurant for dinner.
Be sure to put your email address on your membership form to receive North GA HOG emails.
Every other month you will receive the chapter newsletter, HOG JAWS. If you have an idea or a story you would like to share and don't mind it being printed, please contact the Editor by leaving a note in the box at Frazier's or email to:

Frazier's will approve all articles and ideas prior to printing.
